Latvia did not manage to calculate the damage from the Soviet occupation. A specially created for this purpose the commission for four years of work spent more than 500 thousand lats (about $ 1 million), but have not had time to complete the task. Because of the lack of further funding in the context of an acute economic crisis that has plagued the country, the commission was abolished. To complete the work she did not have two years of work and 200 thousand lats (about $ 400 thousand).

"From a practical standpoint, it's silly to hope that the nomination of material requirements to Russia or another country will give some results. This could be at least a good historical material, but at the moment this is not" - said Andris Berzins, who headed the commission. According to preliminary data, Riga estimates the total damage from the Soviet occupation in the 100 billion lats ($ 200 billion), observes the ITAR-TASS.
